• The Stripologist Is In!

Gudrun Erla, the designer and owner of GE Designs, has once again combined two fan favorites into one awesome book! Stripology Mixology 2 pairs 13 innovative quilts with cocktails to match, teaming Gudrun’s cocktail-making hobby with her love of quilting. She’s a master Stripologist, so named for the techniques she uses to craft with precut strips, charm packs, and layer cakes, The philosophy of using these precuts was so well received in her first Stripology Mixology book, she was inspired last January to write this sequel. (By the way, you can always cut your own fabric to follow her patterns if you prefer.) Born and raised in Iceland, Gudrun began…

  • Keep Calm and Sew a Mask

Let’s make a difference! In response to the growing need for personal protective equipment (PPE), the CDC is now approving the use of home-sewn masks. When combined with face shields or filters, these masks can lengthen the life of protective equipment.* At Keepsake Quilting and Pineapple Fabrics, our caring staff is cutting kits and sewing masks for this great need. We’ve reached out to local guild members in our community, both in North Carolina and New Hampshire, and we’re sending free mask-making kits as well as dropping off completed masks to essential personnel at local hospitals, nursing homes, childcare centers, and essential businesses. We’re committed to doing our part and…

  • Farewell New Hampshire

Dear Friends of Keepsake Quilting,It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will be closing our Keepsake Quilting and Pineapple Fabrics stores in Center Harbor, New Hampshire on February 28, 2020. When we purchased Keepsake Quilting in April, 2018, we had high hopes that we would be able to restore the Center Harbor location to its former status as “America’s Favorite Quilt Shop” and keep the location open even though we are based in North Carolina. Despite our best efforts to increase store hours, remerchandise, introduce special sales and add a beautiful new Pineapple Fabrics shop (which received a Better Homes & Gardens Top Shop award), not to mention the…

  • Greetings Quilters!

Long time, no new blog post! Where have we been? Well things have been very busy here at Keepsake Quilting. Let’s get up to date! In the past year and a half, we have enjoyed being under new ownership. Back to be being family owned, we are thrilled to have the Kimelman Family, owners of Pineapple Fabrics at the helm. They are fabric lovers going back generations in the textile business and they understand quilters and what inspires them: creativity and quality fabrics. Here are some highlights from the past year:  We’ve lowered our fabric prices! You will not believe the deals to be found every day at Keepsake Quilting.…

  • All Through the House

“I saw it across the floor at Quilt Market and felt like running to it. I knew it would be perfect for our customers!” That’s what Cheryl, our buyer, said happened when she first spotted the All Through the House quilt that’s now featured on the cover of our Holiday 2018 catalog. When the quilt arrived in the office for photography, the staff fell in love with this wonderful quilt, too. It looked so clean and fresh in solids. Roxie and Joe Wood of ThimbleCreek designed that cover quilt. Cheryl loved their style so much that she chose two of their other designs for our fall and holiday catalogs. Anyone…

  • A Quilt to Crow About

We’ve got a quilt to crow about. We liked it so much that we put it on the cover of our fall catalog. Cheryl, our amazing buyer, has a knack for knowing just what quilts our Keepsake Quilting customers will love. She’s been choosing our products for years and deciding the one quilt that will go on the cover.  See it here It’s always a big day when Evelyn, our photographer, and Patty, our stylist, go on location to photograph the cover quilt. They knew the perfect location for the “And So It Crows” quilt, this fall’s cover quilt. They loaded up Patty’s car with camera equipment, props and the…

Charity Quilts Begin at Home for Keepsake Cut-ups

Many quilters make charity quilts that to go directly to people in need, to an organization that distributes them, or that are raffled or auctioned as part of a fundraiser. The Keepsake Quilting crew is no different. For four years, staff members from several departments in our New Hampshire offices have teamed up to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Through proceeds from raffling off charity quilts and individual donations, the group, known as the Keepsake Cut-ups, has raised more than $10,000. “We formed our team in 2012 and then when a co-worker was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, we really stepped up our…

  • KQ Employee Party – A Mexican Fiesta

Last Wednesday we held our annual Keepsake Quilting outing. After a couple of rainy days, luckily the weatherman was on our side. It was a great day for our Mexican fiesta, complete with a taco and quesadilla buffet with black beans, chicken, pork, tofu and all the fixings. If palates needed cooling after the Mexican fare, that was taken care of by a make-your-own sundae buffet, with choice of ice cream and sweet toppings. After lunch, we señoritas and señores vied for prizes with all kinds of fun and silly games, such as pass the hat, bean race, taco fight (no food thrown, we assure you), and a disc toss.…

  • International Quilt Market 2013: Portland, Oregon

What a whirlwind!  We’ve been back from Quilt Market for a couple of weeks, and I think we’ve finally recovered from covering that show!  We spent Thursday, May 16th, traveling to Portland, Oregon.  It was such a long flight from NH, but luckily there were no delays or issues.  We met at 3am at the office to head to the airport together and arrived in Portland at noon (Pacific time).  We spent the next few days looking at all the new patterns, fabrics and notions!  Jo stops by every single booth at the show to find out what’s new and to ask questions about things that catch her eye.  Rosemary,…
