• Farewell New Hampshire

Dear Friends of Keepsake Quilting,It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will be closing our Keepsake Quilting and Pineapple Fabrics stores in Center Harbor, New Hampshire on February 28, 2020. When we purchased Keepsake Quilting in April, 2018, we had high hopes that we would be able to restore the Center Harbor location to its former status as “America’s Favorite Quilt Shop” and keep the location open even though we are based in North Carolina. Despite our best efforts to increase store hours, remerchandise, introduce special sales and add a beautiful new Pineapple Fabrics shop (which received a Better Homes & Gardens Top Shop award), not to mention the…

  • Greetings Quilters!

Long time, no new blog post! Where have we been? Well things have been very busy here at Keepsake Quilting. Let’s get up to date! In the past year and a half, we have enjoyed being under new ownership. Back to be being family owned, we are thrilled to have the Kimelman Family, owners of Pineapple Fabrics at the helm. They are fabric lovers going back generations in the textile business and they understand quilters and what inspires them: creativity and quality fabrics. Here are some highlights from the past year:  We’ve lowered our fabric prices! You will not believe the deals to be found every day at Keepsake Quilting.…

  • Go to School at Keepsake Quilting

Mary and Gloria As the kids start thinking about going back to school, we’ve got school on our minds, too. We’re talking quilt school where there are no tests and no grades, and every class is sure to be fun. We’ve got a terrific class schedule in the works that both locals and visitors to the shop are going to love. We plan to do something special every week. The first Monday of the month will be Make-and-Take-It Monday, with projects such as ornaments, potholders or holiday items that can be finished in just a few hours. The second Tuesday of the month will be Table-Setting Tuesday, with projects such…

  • David Taylor Brings His Applique Master Class to Keepsake Quilting

What a delight to have a former Keepsake Quilting challenge winner teaching at the shop. We were first introduced to David Taylor back in the fall of 2000 when he entered our biannual Keepsake Quilting challenge contest. The judges awarded him second-place honors for his intricate foundation-pieced quilt. It was a remarkable piece of work on two counts. First it was only the quiltmaker’s third completed project, and, second, that quiltmaker was a man—our first gentleman challenge winner. David, who now resides in New Hampshire, was living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, at the time and working as a graphic designer. When we interviewed him, he told us he was working…

  • Getting Ready for the Annual Summer Sale!

Summer in New Hampshire is yard-sale season. If you’ve ever had a yard sale, you know it can be a lot of time and work. First you have to gather together everything you want to sell, stick on price tags, set up tables on the lawn, and then pray for good weather. But then when the cars start pulling over and the neighbors begin showing up on your front lawn, it’s all worth it. If you’d like to come to a yard sale beyond compare, plan on heading to Center Harbor, New Hampshire, for the annual Keepsake Quilting Summer Tent Sale on May 31, June 1 and June 2. You’ll…

  • QuiltFest 2015

The Keepsake Quilting retail store grounds came alive with quilting, color creativity, and new ideas as QuiltFest 2015 showcased the best in all styles of quilts from around the country. We were amazed and impressed by the mix of styles and techniques within quilts. Clearly quilters don’t let boundaries stop them! We had traditional patterns in modern colors, modern piecing with traditional quilting, modern piecing with traditional applique… I loved seeing quilters take whatever they needed from whatever niche of the quilting world to make a quilt that’s uniquely their own. First place winner was Kim Gregoire with “Sunflowers”. She took an older pattern (which she had bought at Keepsake–…

  • Primitive Gatherings Pinwheel Tool

Sew you want to know how to use the Primitive Gatherings Pinwheel Tool? Meet Laurel and find out! Laurel began working at Keepsake Quilting (at her husband’s suggestion!) about sixteen years ago after spending a few years being a stay-at-home mom. At first she worked exclusively in the shop, but now you might also find yourself talking to her at the call center. When she first began at KQ, Laurel was not a quilter. Had her husband known how avid a crafter she was going to become, he probably would not have suggested the job!  She dabbled at first with checkerboard quilts before discovering a love of tools and notions…
